DO's
1.Always, install safety Equipment's like Earth leakage / overload & short circuit protection [circuit breakers / switches ] near point of supply.
2. Use lugs to connect the electrical wires to the meter while installing.
3. Ensure healthy earthing is installed at your premises.
4. Ensure only ISI marked cables of proper capacity are used for your installation and get the wiring done through only licensed Electrical Contractors.
5. Recharge the meter when low balance alarm gives to avoid inconvenience due to disconnection.(Applicable for Prepaid meters only)
6. The distance of approximate 2 meter should be maintained between Communication cable and Power cable.
7. Always use proper capacity fuse wire in main switches.
8. Wires should be properly crimped to the lugs.
9. Lug should be crimped properly and the wire should be in contact with all the screws in the terminal block.
10. Provide weather Proof and water proof enclosures to metering Equipment's.
11. For rectification of faults in your installations, call licensed electrical contractors only.
12. If energy meter provided is found stopped / faulty, please bring the facts to the notice of Customer Support of Elmeasure authorities immediately.
13. Provide space for fixing the meter at a convenient place for easy accessibility.
14. In all storied buildings, irrespective of the number of floors, provide space for fixing meter, cut -out etc., in the ground floor only.
15. Use electricity only for purpose for which the service connection has been given (i.e. domestic).
16. Construct your building with proper clearance from the existing High Tension/Low Tension lines as per the Indian Electricity Rules 1956. [Vide rule 79 & 80].
17. Get your supply converted from single-phase to three-phase if the total connected load exceeds 4 Kilo watts.
18. Observe safety precautions to avoid electrical accidents.
19. Replace promptly defective electrical fittings and appliances.
20. If the meter is found to be defective and not running, bring the matter to the notice of the Customer Support of Elmeasure.
21. Get the internal wiring checked up periodically not only to avoid leakage of electricity but also to safeguard the lives of the inmates in the premises.
22. Appropriate Lug and wires used should be based on current rating of the meter.
Don't s
1. Do not connect multiple Equipment's to a single point outlet to avoid excess loading.
2. Do not use bare wires for extending supply from one point to other or from one premise to other premises. It is hazardous and causes accidents.
3. Avoid loose connections and joints.
4. Avoid theft of electrical energy, It is cognizable offense and attracts penal charges and / or imprisonment.
5. Do not tamper with energy meters, meter seals or metering Equipment's, it is an offense.
6. Do not plant trees below the overhead power lines.
7. Do not meddle with live wires/points, It may cost your life.
8. Don't get the wiring works done by unauthorized persons, which is an offense under the Indian Electricity Rules 1956.
9. Don't use substandard wires and wiring accessories. Don't install fittings and appliances of poor quality.
10. Don't construct your building underneath a High Tension or Low-Tension line without proper clearance.
11. Do not connect Neutral to Phase.
12. Do not connect Phase to Neutral.
